The team at the Ukrant surprised me with this farewell video when I left Groningen for Colorado.
Megan saw potential in me that I didn't know I had. I'm not a journalist - or at least, I wasn't a year and a half ago when we first met. In my mind, I was just a scientist who really liked photography. It was under Megan's caring and supportive guidance and instruction that I finally found purpose for my photography: telling stories. She had the patience to teach me the ins-and-outs of the journalistic process, which allowed me to explore my creativity and to trust my instincts.
I intend to pursue a career in scientific journalism now. Megan is the person who was there for me for every step that brought me to this decision.
Megan Embry was my editor at the UKrant Groningen for eight months. I had the opportunity to work with her on a daily basis and experienced her as absolutely reliable, professional and trustworthy. She was always dedicated to her work, but also took care of the many freelancers she supervised as international editor. She was always interested in helping, mentoring, and teaching her mentees, and was supportive with any tasks or problems they encountered.
I think I speak on behalf of the whole Ukrant team when I say that Megan Embry is an amazing journalist, editor and colleague and that she will be an outstanding addition to any team.
